How Mississauga scores

Dropping30

Mississauga sits at City Score rank #67 with a standing of 53%, from 8 of 8 open-data pillars (tax, construction, connectivity, indoor air, water, seismic hazard, growth, safety). Missing pillars score at median standing so thin coverage cannot inflate the rank. Dropping 30 places versus 2022 (#37 → #67).

Latest owned placements: building permit value rank #8 of 172 (2025); indoor radon rank #97 of 117 at 60 Bq/m³ survey mean; residential mill rate rank #95 of 172 (10.34 mill rate). Full tables and method notes live on each study edition; atlas readings for the same slug open from the topic buttons.

Mississauga in brief

Mississauga's local map often starts with MiWay. The City Centre Transit Terminal on Rathburn Road West is the main hub on the Mississauga Transitway, parked at the northwest corner of Square One, and Hurontario routes are among the corridor names on the board. A short walk puts you at Celebration Square on City Centre Drive, where summer programming runs from fountain hours to amphitheatre nights and the venue page still prints 311 as the number to call. MiWay's own MiSpot list treats Celebration Square, Square One, Port Credit, and Brueckner Rhododendron Gardens as the destinations people already argue about over coffee.

Neighbourhoods keep their own files. Port Credit is the waterfront shorthand on transit tips. Clarkson shows up when the City updates the Clarkson Village Study and when GO connections matter for longer trips. Cooksville joins that GO list in travel advice aimed at big-event weekends. Zonta Meadows Park is one of the active redevelopment projects on the civic homepage, proof that park files stay live even in a city this large. Peel remains the upper-tier word Mississauga News uses when school-board scholars or public notices need a wider frame.

The local news diet lately clusters around housing task-force recommendations, a council step toward pausing new data centres, rental cooling rules, and mapped auto-theft counts. Those are desk themes, not the whole personality. On the OpenStats City Score for 2026, Mississauga sits at rank 16 of 125. Rankings aside, the hometown read is a MiWay ride into City Centre, a square that hosts the summer calendar, and a Port Credit evening when you want the lake instead of the mall.

OpenStats Broadband Download Speeds

OpenStats

Cities ranked by estimated best advertised download (Mbps). Anchored to the current ISED National Broadband Data vintage, then backcast along a national speed curve with city-specific fiber-arrival and 50/10 availability paths so relative ranks can change over the decade. Not a claim of audited historical hex maps for every year.

OpenStats Building Permit Value

OpenStats

Cities ranked by calendar-year building permit value. Direct rows sum Statistics Canada Table 34-10-0292-01. Cities without a direct reading use population × provincial per-capita permit intensity (estimated), so every seed city has a year-varying construction signal.

OpenStats City Score

OpenStats

Dimensional average of OpenStats open-data pillars for each panel year 2016–2025: tax, construction, connectivity, indoor air, water, seismic hazard, population growth, and crime severity. Each series is scored 0–1 within its edition; series in the same pillar are averaged, then all eight pillars are averaged with equal weight. Missing pillars score at median standing (0.5). Growth and CSI use StatCan annual tables; permits, mill rates, and broadband use live rows plus documented year-varying estimates where needed. Radon, water, and PGA may be survey/model vintages carried forward and are flagged when static for more than two years. External commercial livability lists are never inputs.

Places to see

Celebration Square

Downtown civic square beside City Centre where summer fitness classes, movie nights, and amphitheatre shows share the same open floor. It is the event answer when someone asks what is on tonight.

Port Credit

Waterfront community MiWay treats as a favourite MiSpot. When City Centre feels like malls and buses, Port Credit is the lake-end reset on the same transit map.

City Centre Transit Terminal

The MiWay and Transitway hub next to Square One, with heated waiting areas and connections to GO and Brampton Transit. It is how a lot of Mississauga days actually begin.
