How Woodstock scores

Woodstock sits at City Score rank #80 with a standing of 51%, from 8 of 8 open-data pillars (tax, construction, connectivity, indoor air, water, seismic hazard, growth, safety). Missing pillars score at median standing so thin coverage cannot inflate the rank. The chart below shows how that standing moves year to year.

Latest owned placements: building permit value rank #65 of 172 (2025); indoor radon rank #64 of 117 at 111 Bq/m³ survey mean; residential mill rate rank #6 of 172 (18.21 mill rate). Full tables and method notes live on each study edition; atlas readings for the same slug open from the topic buttons.

Woodstock in brief

Woodstock’s everyday map still runs along Dundas Street, where City Hall mail goes to 500 Dundas and the Woodstock Museum occupies the Old Town Hall a few blocks away. Recreation copy keeps pointing people to Southside Park as the featured municipal greenspace among more than fifty neighbourhood parks, with a toboggan hill that makes winter directions easy. Chuck Armstrong Memorial Park and other named playground parks fill the neighbourhood gaps. Cowan Sportsplex covers the indoor sports side, and Woodstock Transit keeps a local bus brand on the homepage beside the usual tax and waste service notes.

Summer brings its own proper nouns. Cowapolooza and the Woodstock Fair sit on the city events calendar, while Woodstock 125 keeps anniversary history in the civic conversation. City news also sends people out to Pittock Conservation Area for a redeveloped disc golf course, a reminder that recreation talk here spills just past the municipal park list. The Woodstock Art Gallery and What’s on Woodstock magazine round out the culture desk without needing a tourist brochure voice.

Press is thin compared with bigger Ontario desks, so the hometown read leans on municipal names that locals already use: Southside Park for family afternoons, Old Town Hall for the museum, and Fair week when August arrives. Splash pads and trail pages keep the same practical tone as transit alerts. On the OpenStats City Score for 2026, Woodstock sits at rank 82 of 125. Rankings do not change the street-level habit of meeting on Dundas and measuring green space from Southside out.

OpenStats Broadband Download Speeds

OpenStats

Cities ranked by estimated best advertised download (Mbps). Anchored to the current ISED National Broadband Data vintage, then backcast along a national speed curve with city-specific fiber-arrival and 50/10 availability paths so relative ranks can change over the decade. Not a claim of audited historical hex maps for every year.

OpenStats

Cities ranked by calendar-year building permit value. Direct rows sum Statistics Canada Table 34-10-0292-01. Cities without a direct reading use population × provincial per-capita permit intensity (estimated), so every seed city has a year-varying construction signal.

OpenStats City Score

OpenStats

Dimensional average of OpenStats open-data pillars for each panel year 2016–2025: tax, construction, connectivity, indoor air, water, seismic hazard, population growth, and crime severity. Each series is scored 0–1 within its edition; series in the same pillar are averaged, then all eight pillars are averaged with equal weight. Missing pillars score at median standing (0.5). Growth and CSI use StatCan annual tables; permits, mill rates, and broadband use live rows plus documented year-varying estimates where needed. Radon, water, and PGA may be survey/model vintages carried forward and are flagged when static for more than two years. External commercial livability lists are never inputs.
